Your Breath Is Mine

I’m pacing around in a frantic way
An urge to talk with nothing to say,
I can’t decide what to do, you weren’t there when I needed you.
The time spills and it gets intense
I’d count on her when things were tense.
But I could just take the pistol from the drawer,
It makes the blood run cold
I’m wanting so much more
“Just do as you’re fucking told”, I said.
It isn’t easy but I placed the antidote in your skin
And I’m running out of time, the air is getting thin.
Your heart is pounding in my ears
Your skin is glistening with tears.
Your eyes are racing around the room without a body to decide where you will go…
Nowhere, baby.
I want to run but I hide
I stay right by your side,
So I can be there if your blood leaves a stain
“darling so it’s overrated being sane.”
She said she’d kill me if I didn’t let her go,
But it’s useless talk, she’s the only who will know.
She runs faster than I will ever grasp
And I couldn’t complete just one little task,
My friends come by and we work in twos of four
And they grab the rope like we planned before,
A ten inch blade that you can’t ignore, but I said
“Just take the pistol from the drawer”.
Her legs breaking underneath
She has a secret she can’t keep,
And it burns her deep inside
But she rushes away to save her life.
I said, “I’m faster than you’ll ever know sweetheart”
She said, “why must you tear me apart?!”
I’m falling infinitely, in her green sea
And I wish I could save her color forever
If she hadn’t cried out her eyes,
They day I ignited her heart just to smother the flame
I know things will never ever be the same
When I took the pistol from the drawer,
I never quite knew what it meant before.
